Boys & Girls Clubs Surf Camp

In Memory of Taylor Epps

May 24–May 26

Our Boys and Girls Club Surf Camp has been running for 9 years now and was started by David Branch.  Since 2015 this camp has been named in honor of Taylor Epps, a young surfer from Virginia Beach who died in an accident at a very young age.  Taylor loved to surf and help others.  To honor him,  The Epps Family has partnered with Indo Jax Surf Charities to help provide this surf camp and to keep the memory of Taylor alive and well.  In this camp we work with kids from the downtown Wilmington area, many are considered at risk.  Most of the kids have very little opportunity to do things like surf and many can’t swim.  The children from the Boys and Girls Club find peace at the ocean as it is a much different environment than the street they live on.  Surfing offers them a chance to participate in a non-traditional activity and really builds their confidence.
